no high fructose corn syrup list

List of Products with No High-Fructose Corn Syrup

If you would like to be alerted when this list is updated, sign up for the RSS feed (In the upper right, or Click here to Subscribe to High-Fructose High by Email).

Always Check The Label Yourself! I always check before submitting something to the list, but sometimes companies change things, so be sure to always verify on the label itself. This list is meant to be a guide and not a bible. I hope it’s very helpful in finding products with no high-fructose corn syrup, but if you’re sensitive or have allergies especially, always always double-check the label yourself!

This is a list I have compiled (and am actively adding to) of products which do not contain HFCS. These are all products that now seems to contain HFCS more often than not – so I am posting when I come across a brand/variety that does not contain it (last I checked, anyway).

If you have some finds you’d like to share on this list, send me the info, and I will add it here.

Thank you! I’ve been looking for a list!

  2. Christene on March 26th, 2008

Thankyou for your research into this subject…..

Although I have only been eating products containing this HFCS for the past 2 years (Australia doesn’t have this to date) but the illness I have incurred and weight I have gained is very obvious.

Here in So. Cal. “Mexican Coke” is a regional treat that you can get in most small taco/burrito restaurants and small markets catering to the local hispanic market. It comes in the old, thick, glass Coke bottles, and is made with real sugar. It tastes way better than the HFCS-sweetened Coke, and it seems to have less acidity too. I really with Coke would go back to sugar.

  4. Trish Owen on March 27th, 2008

Wow! Bless you for this site. After reading the “Omnivore’s Dilemma” I have become aware of this problem. I am old enough to remember how much better all of our foods tasted before they switched from sugar to HFCS. Thank you for providing this info. I will keep checking back.

  5. Lauri on March 30th, 2008

Thank you for putting together this list and the time you’ve obviously taken to do it.

Recently I found Thomas’s “light” english muffins. Not only do they not have HFCS, but they also have 8gms. of fiber and only 1gm of fat.

  6. Leslie on April 2nd, 2008

Thanks so much for all the information. The more enlightened the public can be the better. WE ARE WHAT WE EAT. Everyone should boycott buying HFCS and then the manufacturers would have to go back to the drawing board and give us healthy ingredients. THANKS!

  7. DM on April 12th, 2008

Awesome!! I have been searching for a list like this!! Thank you for providing this info. I am looking forward to getting updates via email!! If I find more lists, I’ll send them to you. God Bless you!

I am teaching a wellness class at work and I have compliled lists of foods that contain HFCS …this was the easy part! I was so happy to find this website and can now share it with my class. We have become avid Nutrician facts label/ingredient list readers. It is our goal to help not only ourselves become healthier via knocking out our large consumption of HFCS but to save our children by educating their eating habits.
    Thank you so much

I was looking for a list and your the only one that posted something. I thank you.

  11. Gail Roberds on May 3rd, 2008

I just want to say thanks a million for the time and effort you have taken to put this list toghether not only for myself but also for all others out there who find this very helpful. Also here are a couple of things I found in a magazine that can be added to your list that contain no HFCS.

    1. Dannon Activa Yogurt
    2. Campbell’s 25% Less Sodium Chicken Noodle Soup
    3. Nabisco Original Triscuits
    4. Mott’s Natural Apple Sauce

  12. Craig S. on May 3rd, 2008

I saw this on Consumerist, great list!

Also, I believe Sobe’s Life Water is sweetened with actual sugar, and not HFCS. I haven’t checked the label in a while, but it’s competes with Vitamin Water, so I’m pretty sure Sobe uses actual sugar in their beverage as well.

  13. ruth foster on May 3rd, 2008

I’ve looked at a lot of these foods – and I worry that some of these foods are cheating by using the terms “natural sweeteners” or “modified food starch”. Those may not be strictly HFCS – but they can be and are definitely euphemisms for corn products.

  14. dex on May 3rd, 2008

To add to your bread list, Wheat Montana breads/rolls are all HFCS free!

  15. Lora DeBie on May 4th, 2008

Great sight! Will check back often for updates and report any additional finds. Thanks

  16. Michelle on May 4th, 2008

Hansens Natural Soda switched from HFCS to cane sugar in April 2007. So you can add that on your list :) )

  17. Michelle on May 5th, 2008

Also, although Kix does contain HFCS it does contain corn syrup which I am not too clear on the difference. Kix also contains MODIFIED corn starch… modified meaning genetically modified organism which is really ironic considering Kix says to have no artificial preservative, flavors and so forth.

  18. Nisa on May 5th, 2008

Can someone tell me the diff between HFCS, Modified corn syrup, Modified corn starch, Corn syrup solids etc.?
I seen a documentary on “Independent Lens” a couple weeks ago and it educated me about the process of corn from seed to product. It was very interesting and upsetting how they grow and use it for the foods we eat. I am just beginning my no HFSC product quest this month and I really appreciate this list and any information I can obtanin about the above question.
    Thanks,

  19. Meredith on May 6th, 2008

I just enjoyed a Quaker Simple Harvest Bar – has brown rice syrup, sugar, honey, and molasses, but no HFCS.

  20. Jennifer Perez on May 8th, 2008

Hi.. I been reading your list and have been following it as my guide to a better diet. I also have one for you… Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter.. the ingredients are only peanuts and salt. Very tastey! :D

  21. Denise on May 19th, 2008

All the Orlando brand breads and buns we have found so far have no HFCS.

Folks avoiding HFCS is making a difference! I’ve been reading a lot lately about companies going back to sugar: Sobe, for one. Taco Bell is bringing in a fruit-smoothy type drink made with sugar. Coke is supposed to be coming out with a cola product with Stevia in it-ostensibly as a “supplement”, but if it has Stevia, there’s no need for sweetener. I didn’t know until I was reading the comments here that Blue Sky took out HFCS (cool-thanks) recently. Jones has never had HFCS, but due to demand, they are now making a *cola* in *cans*!! My family is super excited about that!! There’s a brand of chocolate milk out there that doesn’t have it as well, but I can’t remember the name-we found it in Sandusky, Ohio. Great list!

  22. Elaine B on May 22nd, 2008

Wow…it’s so cool to find more and more folks doing sites like this. I too have a list at http://www.stophfcs.com/list, but it never hurts to have several sources to utilize.

    Thanks for doing this!

  23. Tony F on May 30th, 2008

This site has such great information. I just read an article in Mens Fitness about looking for bread without HFCS. I normally buy Oro Wheat Double Fiber and was shocked to see it has HFCS in it. I was buying it for the fiber content. I’m going to look for breads without HFCS from now on and try to get my fiber thru fruits, veggies and other grains.

    Thanks

  24. Samantha Jane on June 6th, 2008

I’m a root beer fan, but recent changes in my digestive track have steered me away from HFCS products. I started drinking Hansen’s diet root beer, which is not bad, and doesn’t have any of the embarassing side effects. Flavored teas and such in glass bottles usually don’t have HFCS, since sugar products don’t last as long in plastic containers.

There are a few sodas out there with no HFCS, but you have ot really look. Theya re usually in teh Natural Food aisle of the grocery store.

  25. Julie on September 3rd, 2008

I was excited about ordering Cola Syrup from Vermont Country Store; I was going to mix it with seltzer water to make my own soda. Then I found out it has HFCS!

  26. Kate K. on September 16th, 2008

Thanks for this list! Although I think HFCS is okay in moderation, say in something like crackers, this is very helpful.

  27. Patti Dickerson on October 24th, 2008

I am so grateful for your list of no HFCS products. My 3 year old granddaughter is highly allergic to HFCS as well as all corn products including corn starch, etc. We’ve searched doctors over 2 years for help with her weight problem 67 lbs at 3 years old and finally found a Naturopath that found the corn allergy. We began the difficult time of finding foods for her. Now her skin rashes are gone, her mood is level and wight is stable; not increasing. The Food and Drug Administration has got to take this seriously. HFCS is so very harmful to us. Thank you again for your list.

  28. Brenda on October 28th, 2008

I was very sick for over three years and was not able to work consistently. We had to sell our house and liquidate all savings and retirement just to live. I figured out a little over a year ago what was making me sick, HFCS. I have been mostly sucessful in avoiding it, but still get it sometimes when I am not expecting it. It is really great to see a sight like this one. It makes me have hope that the word is getting out. I know I am not the only person that is sick from HFCS and I worry that there are a lot of misdiagnosed people out there being medicated for the wrong condition and being made even more sick. The pill companies want us to take their pills when, possibly, we can be cured with changes in diet. There is a reason why no other country uses this stuff.

  29. B. Raymond on November 13th, 2008

I have intolerance to large amounts of fructose which is what eating HCFS amounts to. This was determined by elimination of HFCS from my diet. It is daunting to shop for processed foods. The state university in Iowa researced this in depth. It purely is not good for anyone to eat HCFS.

  30. Jim on January 31st, 2009

Good list but beware that many of the lite and sugar free items on the list will contain Aspartame in the form of artificial sweetners or artificial flavors!

  31. Phyllis Norman on March 26th, 2009

My Grandson has a severe corn allergy. I had no idea that 99% of the products in grocery stores contain High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Thank you very much for the information.

  32. Mary Wilkins on March 26th, 2009

I take a long time shopping because I have to read EVERY label! Other items I have found to be HFCS free: Malto-Meal cereals (cheap and good); Del Monte ketchup; Wal-Mart’s Great Value peanut butter (love their allergy notice:Contains peanuts. Hello?)

I have had to eliminate this nasty “natural” sweetener from my diet due to the severe gastric distress it causes. When I tell others about it and what my symptoms are, they usually say “OMG” “I get that too!” Not everyone is affected in the same manner, but my family has been good about label reading, and have joined me in my cause to spread the word.

Now if I could get some help in my black pepper allergy… it’s really hard to eat out :)

  33. Ethel Powers on March 29th, 2009

This is great! I always read food lables to see if there is any high fructose corn syrup. However, Cheerios, may favorite cereal is listed. The plain variety does not have it. Please correct if I am wrong.

  34. Ethel Powers on March 29th, 2009

Oops, sorry, I misread the title and thought it was for products that contain HFC. A thousand apologies!

Also, if anyone wants scientific data on the subject, here is a link: http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/highfructose.html

  35. Brenda on April 2nd, 2009

    Mary Wilkins-
What part of the country do you live in? I live in Oregon and Del Monte ketchup still has HFCS here. I hope they are expanding to the whole country.

  36. Mary Wilkins on April 2nd, 2009

    Hey Brenda~
I’m in Maine and have found it at my local IGA and at an independent discount store here in Bath. I’ve also purchased it at an IGA just outside of North Conway, NH. I got a bottle out of the fridge to look for packager indentifiers.
All I could find was distributed by DelMonte Foods of San Francisco.

The ingredient statement lists corn syrup (but not HFCS). I’ve never had a problem with regular corn syrup, so for me, this is a “safe food”. Try contacting them through their customer service~ Good luck. If push comes to shove you could probably order it from here and have it shipped to you. Let me know if you’d like contat info :)

  37. Brenda on April 3rd, 2009

    Hi Mary,

Thanks for writing back. I, unfortuneately, cannot have corn syrup either. My reaction is not as severe as to HFCS but I still end up sick for two days. I found an organic ketchup that I can have though. People think it’s in everything, but in reality I don’t eat that much different than others. HFCS free products can be found, it just takes a little more effort. I really appreciate your offer to help me though. We are a growing movement of people and we will badger the food industry into getting that crap out of our food. We have already got the ball rolling and the momentum is picking up.

I don’t think you will get much help with the black pepper though.

  42. chris on November 8th, 2009

Hey, you should add on to this list. I have a box of lindt dark chocolate truffles near by, no high fructose corn syrup. Stop & Shops “natures promise” brand avoids it in most foods too :)

  43. keela on January 27th, 2010

I am soo appreciative for this site. I am allergic to corn and it is so hard trying to find food to eat. I never realized that corn is in everything we use in life basically. food, soap, toothpaste, drinks, beer, and even deodorant. You name it some kind of corn is in it. some things on our list may not have hfcs but they have corn products in them. Thanks again.

  44. Doc on February 8th, 2010

Has anyone found a chocolate syrup that has no HFCS? (Hershey’s choc syrup lists first ingredient as HFCS.) :-(

  45. Nakale A. on February 12th, 2010

Thank you so much for this list. I feel sorry for my kids, because they do not have the slightest idea of the dangerous components that foods and drinks of today have. I will try to adhere to the list for their sake. I will always consult this website.

  46. Karen Judd on February 13th, 2010

  48. Dennis on March 6th, 2010

Log Cabin Original has no HFCS, but it does contain corn syrup. I live in Minnesota and there are some local maple syrup products that don’t contain HFCS, but they are really expensive. Thanks for the list!
