This AP article reports that FDA labeling director Barbara Schneeman has expressed (in writing) concern over two of the corn industry’s websites using “corn sugar” and “high fructose corn syrup” interchangably. I recently discovered that high fructose corn syrup was the culprit of my daughter’s extreme “moodiness”. I don’t know what else to call it. Her behavior will be horrible, crying, screaming, whining, dramatic, etc. Not fun.My husband once let her eat almost a half box of Ritz Bits and it was 23 hours of …heck. At that time we did not know which ingredient was the problem. We know she loves bananas and that they bother her for 8 hours, but we did not make the fructose connection until I just read this article. I would like to know what the symptoms are for your child when you say intolerance? We don’t know any one else who has her particular symptoms.

Just wanted to say that this info has been very helpful. My 3 year old daughter has a fructose intolerance, not only does she need to avoid HFCS she also needs to stay away from food items that have natural fructose such as fruits and veggies. This is hard to get people to understand. I wanted to add that I have seen 2 different breads in the grocery store that have no high Fructose corn syrup written on the package. One is Arnolds, and the other is Brownberry I believe. There are more people like us in the world then I thought. Hope this helps
